Kate is a California native who moved to St. Pete and Gulfport almost 6 years ago. She has been making art for most of her life and has been a professional graphic designer for 45 years. Her paintings and monotype prints incorporate collage and stenciling. Monotypes are one-of-a-kind prints made using an etching press. Human-made materials, manufactured leftovers, found objects, discarded bits of packaging and objects of nature often find their way into these works – “present day fossils.” “I find beauty in shapes and the negative space surrounding these shapes. I love industrial sites and their materials.” She has exhibited in juried shows with several printmakers’ groups in California, as well as a show of her paintings at Quench in Largo.
