Art by Anna Ayres
Anna Ayres hails from Vermont, where she was born, raised, and began her painting career. She learned early on that nature and travel influence and inform her creativity most of all. Five years ago she followed an urge and moved to St. Petersburg, FL where she finds endless inspiration in birds, tropical botanicals, storms and the sea. In 2016 she achieved a 500 hour Yoga Teacher Certification and she currently facilitates art with two local non-profits for under-served communities: Creative Clay Cultural Arts Center and Nomad Art Bus. In March of this year she was awarded the Creative Pinellas Emerging Artist Grant, for which she is mentored by Carrie Jadus of SoftWater Studios and writes a weekly blog (visit Anna's blog at CreativePinellas.org) . The grant and its ten 2019 recipients culminates in a group show in September of work accomplished during the grant period. Ayres works out of her home studio in Gulfport, where she continues to interpret the hope and possibility she feels in the world through oil, acrylic and watercolor painting.
